Xbox games reviews 360 kinect

One of the launch titles for the Kinect, Kinectimals is nothing deep or even all that challenging. The player gets to raise and connect with an animal of their choice while exploring a strange island. With the Kinect, the Kinectimals can be played with, fed, pet, and more.

Kinectimals is from the same developers as Jurassic World Evolution 2 and its roster of powerful dinosaurs. In a way, it's a simplified version of Tamagotchi that has some very beautiful visuals and adorable pets. Adults can get some joy out of it while young kids will likely be hooked for hours playing with their virtual pet. Fruit Ninja is one of many older mobile games that are still fun to play and that carries over to the Kinect version.

Instead of using fingers, the player swipes with their hands as if they are judo-chopping the fruit themselves. The modes get increasingly more difficult forcing the player to move faster.

One of the best things about the Kinect version is that it promotes exercise in a fun method; the fruit being thrown onto the screen goes all over the place so the player has to move. When this is combined with a party of friends and family, it could be argued that Fruit Ninja Kinect is superior to the mobile version. Most Kinects came with a copy of Kinect Adventures! It's nothing all that special but all of the minigames work with the Kinect with the characters matching the player's movements rather well.

It's decent fun for the whole family that can get the hearts pumping and maybe some sweat dripping. The perfect game to be bundled with Kinect: funny and with a very good graphical side. All this publication's reviews Read full review. Still, it's breezy, colourful presentation and general silliness make Kinect Adventures easy to like. While undoubtedly fun, Kinect Adventures does have a tendency to become tiresome due to the lack of variety in each game type.

Kinect Adventures acts as a decent way to show off your latest hardware purchase to friends, but beyond this there really isn't much reason to bung the disc back into your Xbox.

Kinect Adventures is a typical tech-demo that comes free with new hardware. It's instantly fun and demonstrates what Kinect can do, but you've seen everything in an hour and it won't take long for you to stop playing altogether. It works though, and for that it's already a fun little game to have. Make the sequel a bit longer and more varied, please.

Kinect Adventures' set of five games was never designed to innovate, but it clearly fails to do the bare minimum that is necessary for mini-games to have a purpose.

Mini-games are fun in small, pint-sized, easy-to-play quantities, and while Adventure succeeds in offering pocket-size entertainment the gameplay is nowhere near interesting enough and fails to capitalise on the novelty of Kinect. Eurogamer Spain. Wii Sports was fun and showed what was great about its new control scheme. Kinect Adventures, on the other hand, is dull, boring and gives a wrong impression about Kinect.

A circular progress bar around the hand icon depicts the time you need to hold your hand in place. We found it to be a slightly tedious experience.

Some games, such as Dance Central, use a point-and-swipe sort of system which seemed a lot more intuitive and less of a hassle. We found the point-and-hold system just a bit awkward, it was hard to actually get the hand icon to stay on the option we wanted and once in position, holding for a second or two was just a bit of a pain.

You get used to it after a while, but frankly, we can't see why anyone would want to navigate an Xbox menu by holding their arm in the air, instead of just pressing a few buttons on the controller. There's a certain novelty aspect to it, of course, and while we didn't allow ourselves to go back to using the controller, we certainly wanted to at times.

Possibly the most Star Trek -like feature of Kinect is voice control. When using media services such as Sky Player or the Zune music service, you can control your Xbox using your voice alone. You get the Xbox's attention by saying "Xbox". A list of commands then pops up from the top of the screen.

We'll discuss how well this all works on the next page. Current page: Kinect review: Features. Ditto plugging holes with hands and feet in an underwater tank being attacked by psychotic fish. Ditto flapping your arms to float up and burst bubbles in the low gravity of an orbiting space station. To experience it is to love it. The use of avatars is a key part of the appeal.

Kinect has made them an essential part of the experience, just as they are on Wii. But Microsoft also has a few ideas of its own about how to add fun. You can then save this or upload it to share with friends. However, the system already has a handful of serious system sellers, with the power to do what Wii Sports did for Nintendo. On this count, Kinect does pretty well. For the first time we have a dance game that — amazingly — relies entirely on your ability to, you know, dance.

We know that some of you will have read about those games and sneered in disgust. As we said, Kinect is not for you. Big questions remain over Kinect.
