I too am a user. Thankfully where I bought the PC is willing to take them back and send me the PC instead. PC2 is downward compatible. High Density is not. Low Density parts have 8 or 16 or more chips on each side not 4. Are you suggesting they should be downward compatible?
There is some timing issue then with that specific brand or they are bad. Faster ram should be able to downclock to. The chips on the Dell site show only 4 per side which would be High Density.
