Thread starter speedyone Start date Aug 22, Messages 3, Hi, does anyone know if it's possible to control the Yamaha MagicStomp with midi?

I tried to reach out to the builder of the Converter, but does anyone else know if there may be a way to use midi with the MagicStomp? Thanks guys! MaxTwang Senior Member. There might have been a 2nd Yamaha utility required also. The MIDI implementation was quite daunting as the effects are very diverse with very complex parameter sets. You can Google MagicStomp USB midi and you'll find some old threads on editors as well as links to the old drivers which may not work with newer systems.

The first time I put it in I could not get it to play at all I would get to the very end only to find out the drivers that I installed, never got installed. I'm not a whiz with computers, but I've installed enough software to know somethings not right here.

I think this disc needed to come with installation instructions paper and there were none. Hope I'm making sense. Unfortunately they're old, but they may work for you. The firmware update, for example, is for version 1. I would not try it for version 2. Also, you may want to ask Yamaha for a replacement CD or more recent downloadable files. I've contacted Yamaha support maybe twice regarding a bass and a guitar, and they were great. Often, the term firmware is used to refer specifically to boot firmware, which controls a computer from the time that it is turned on until the primary operating system has taken over.

Boot firmware's main function is to initialize the hardware and then to boot load and execute the primary operating system. The latest firmware version for the original MagicStomp is 1. I downloaded those instructions, I'll give it one more try before I use the disc for target practice How do you know?

You have to go to the setup dialog after running the app. Then tell it that you want to use the Yamaha USB for the mid device. Have you checked you control panel sound dialog and see if the Yamaha USB Midi driver shows up under the midi devices?
